Mi camarada, Les Blough, has finally returned to civilization.
After far too long in the United States visiting family and friends (and especially his lovely daughters), he has made it safely back to his home in Venezuela. I, for one, breathe a sigh of relief every time he gets back to La Victoria after spending time in Hades. I'm anxious when he's gone, and I worry about him because the US has to be the most insane nation on earth where any number of horrible things can happen to someone who's just minding his own business.
So welcome home, mi amigo. I thought the note you sent should be shared ... and I'm not even going to chew you out for typing THE WHOLE DAMN THING IN CAPS so that I had to retype it all. See what I'm willing to put up with for you??

Things I like in the US
- My daughters
- Good friends, order!
- Clean Streets
- Waking in the morning and having restaurants that serve breakfast!
- Shopping with so many food choices
- Good services in stores and restaurants
- Ability to find anything I want - things for the house, car parts, good wine & whiskey, favorite jeans & shirts
- The beauty of the land 🙂
Things I like in Venezuela
- Community
- My friends and adopted family here
- My cat SimĂłn
- Warm smiles and greetings from strangers in the street
- Forgiving attitudes
- Loving happy people
- Sudden welcome visits
- Laughter, acceptance, curiosity
- The people's clear knowledge of world events
- Crazy humor
- Their love of nature
- The street dogs
- The many ways people share with one another
- Nobody homeless
- Interest and respect for the Indigenous, mixed races, genders and cultures
- The slow pace, people working but not a priority
- Socialism
- The government
- Few taxes & fees
- Contentment with so few material things
... and much more 🙂
