Transition Council promised 35% of Libyan oil to France in return for support

In exchange for its support, France agreed a deal to control 35% of Libyan oil with the opposition National Transition Council (NTC), Libération informed today.
The French newspaper stated that it had access to a letter signed April 3 and sent to Qatar in which the NTC noted that it had signed with Paris "an agreement concerning the delivery to France of 35% of the country’s oil in return for its full and unconditional backing of the NTC."
In that context, French Foreign Minister Alain Juppe told a broadcasting station that he had no knowledge of the letter; however, he described as logical the fact that countries supporting the rebels should receive privileges after Gaddafi’s ousting.
Meanwhile, the UN Sanctions Committee on Libya has authorized the transferal to the NTC of Libyan funds to a value of 1.5 billion euros frozen in France, has stated that it plans to unblock a total of five billion euros, and that it has already delivered 182 million to the NTC. (Ria Novosti).
