VENEZUELAN President Hugo Chávez had a teleconference yesterday with Minister of Energy and Oil Rafael Ramírez, during which he expressed satisfaction with the achievements of the Grand Housing Mission Venezuela and informed him about his recuperation.

Chávez assured Ramírez that he is feeling well and affirmed, "I am recovering rapidly."

In this context, the President said that he has been on his feet and walking since Wednesday. "I am on a very good diet and taking walks. I have talked with Elías Jaua, with Jorge Arreaza (Minister of Science and Technology), drawing up some guidelines, I am very happy to see how resources from the En Amor Mayor (In Greater Love) Mission have been distributed," he said.

At the same time, Chávez thanked people who are closely following his physical progress and asked for prayers to "God, La Chinita, José Gregorio Hernández, the spirits of the Savannah and to the Lake, all of whom give us life and health."

This is the first time that Chávez has made an appearance in this way after undergoing surgery for the reappearance of a lesion in the pelvic area, from which a cancerous tumor was removed last year.

Earlier the President had written on his Twitter account @chavezcandanga:

"Good day, good world! I am very happy to see on our VTV how the Grand Housing Mission Venezuela is advancing. What lovely buildings!"

This was in reference to the housing program inspected on yesterday (March 1) by Vice President Elías Jaua in Sucre municipality, state of Miranda. (SE)
