Caracas, 12 Jun. AVN.- FAO recognition confirms that social policies fostered by commander Hugo Chavez and continued by president Nicolas Maduro were successful, said Wednesday Calixto Ortega, Venezuelan chargé d'affaires in the United States.

Mr Ortega emphasized that the Bolivarian Revolution's administration has based on "effective policy to benefit the poor."

The Food and Agriculture Organization recognizes that "Venezuela is the country which worked the most to benefit the poor and it reduced (poverty), that it met some of the millennium development goals in advance," Ortega stressed in local television on Wednesday.

Venezuelan president Nicolas Maduro is expected to receive personally the FAO recognition next Monday, during a formal call to Italy, where he will meet Pope Francis.

Three main aspects will be acknowledged by FAO, as it is dietary energy intake, eradicating hunger and child malnutrition.

Venezuela has managed to eradicate hunger and poverty, out of eight millennium development goals engaged by 189 member states of the United Nations Organization before 2015.

FAO will also acknowledge the labor carried out by Cuba, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Chile, Fiji, Georgia, Ghana, Guyana, Nicaragua, Peru, Samoa, Saint Thomas and Prince, Thailand, Uruguay and Vietnam.
