We're dedicating the song by Christopher Cross to Kevin O'Leary and the "Tryst." Kevin is an "old salt" who began sailing when he was 12 years old and navigated the Atlantic with safety, skill and charm. The Tryst is a stunning 32 foot sloop, sleek and gorgeous with teak decks, main sail aft-mast, headsail (genoa) forward. Her designer was Phillip Rhodes, built in Denmark in 1960, a Chesapeake 32.
On many pleasant summer days when the winds favored us, Kev and I sailed the Tryst out of Woods Hole, Massachusetts across Nantucket Sound to Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket. The Tryst rides the seas with another sailor now but Kev is still with us, a loyal friend who works in Boston as a carpenter and house painter, well-read in the classics, a lover of open waters and fair winds.
