Foreign Minister Elias Jaua reaffirms the commitment of Venezuela with the State of Palestine and its people
Venezuelan Foreign Minister Elias Jaua arrived in Cairo, the Egyptian capital, Wednesday to coordinate the delivery of a shipment of humanitarian aid donated by people from the South American for Gaza.
"We are here to strengthen our ties of friendship and support to the government of newly elected (Palestinian) President Abdel Fattah Sisi, to whom we offer our full cooperation," Jaua told a press after landing in Cairo.
The Venezuelan official said his visit includes an important humanitarian mission that involves coordination to deliver a donation of the people and the government of his country.
As part of his agenda, Jaua toured the Nasser Institute, where he spoke directly with various Palestinian patients receiving special medial attention in Egyptian hospitals.
"This contact with wounded Palestinians has been very impressive," he said. Immediately after his arrival, Jaua went to the hospital.
Jaua also wrote several tweets during his visit to the hospital, the most revealing text came after he met a child displaced by the massive and violent destruction caused by Israel in Gaza.
"I met a wounded Palestinian boy with sad eyes. I told him that I come from Venezuela and his face brightened and he said, I know who Chavez is," the Venezuelan minister tweeted.
Before his visit to Cairo, Jaua participated in a meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) in Tehran.
Jaua reaffirmed the firm position of his government in support of the cause of the State of Palestine and its people and at the same time condemned the illegal occupation of the State of Israel in Palestine in the strongest terms.
The visit to this capital includes talks with his Egyptian counterpart Sameh Shoukry to coordinate the arrival of Venezuelan humanitarian aid, as well as to express and supervise the travel to Venezuela of Palestinian children orphans.
The project involves opening up a home to shelter children that were made orphans during the Israeli attacks on Gaza. The refuge will be called "Leader Hugo Chavez."
Last Thursday in Caracas, Venezuela, President Nicolas Maduro announced his government would grant orphan Palestinian children asylum.
