The Voice I Heard
Was lamenting in solitude
while numbering the pains,
weighing the burdens,
and seeking a solace
The Voice with touch of holiness and
Vision of Rumi’s wisdom, whispered,
“My child,
A soul that has faced harsh storms
knows how to rejoice
the calmer moments at each interlude
Eyes used to gray skies and dark clouds,
welcome each dawn’s light
Ears pained by beatings of war-drums,
accept relief from love-songs of free birds
and lullabies of new mothers
Nose polluted by stench from
burned flesh and flamed forests,
becomes intrigued by aroma of
a surviving Purple Lilac
Sore tongue harmed
by sharp words and force-fed poisons,
savor the soothing taste of pure water
Face laden with storms,
smiles while hosting the soft rains
Scarred skin knows value of a healing touch
There is a treasure of triumphs and tragedies,
laughter and tears stored in your spacious life box
Touch them when you need
Share them as you wish
Safeguard them if you have to
Hold onto endurance, you daughter of Eve,
Cure for the pain is hidden in the pain .”
Keep walking towards the light, you will find solace. I keep walking…….
