Bombs, economics and politics
are sculpting the children of Yemen
their ribs sticking out
faces wincing
from famine and cholera
as if children of Giacometti’s “Walking Man”
but can they walk?
The sculpture, a product of art,
the children, a product of artifice,
the trauma a product of the product of weapons
used by Saudi Arabia against the Houthi Shia rebels
in Yemen
because of an alleged coup d'état
in Yemen.
If Eve was born from Adam’s rib,
this emaciation screams
from a maggot infested garden of hell.
Somewhere in the desert there’s an
all-you-can-eat buffet,
if you can walk,
if you can make it there to stand in line
with your own
two feet.
