Why do golfers get paid millions of dollars
to play a game on lush green rolling hills
and valleys yet never acknowledge
Mother Earth?

Why does the abundance of apples stare
agri-bizwizzers in the faces
(well, actually the workers)
yet they themselves, suit-and-tie impoverished,
divvy up the pie chart ignoring
trees?

How come so many continue to underlook
and play the game of chase the rotting carrot
arguing over this or that about the next frontman
CEO of the military industrial complex lesser of
two weasels (no offense to the four-leggeds known
for scheming yet tragi-comic relief the word almost rhymes)
for a crumb of the pie it’s like the World Series on
GMO-pesticided turf?

Why do morning-glories open in the morning
then close later in the day? How come the spiraling
sunflower teaches me not to walk in a straight
                                                                 line?

journalist and filmmaker John Pilger
“...Morrison [Australia’s Prime Minister]
is an echo of the US. At the height of the pandemic,
Morrison announced 270-billion-dollars worth of arms,
for perhaps the most secure country, secure politically,
secure strategically, secure geographically on Earth, Australia. And the centerpiece, of this new wonder arsenal, will be missiles that will be able to reach China. China is Australia’s biggest trading partner. Unravel that if you can.”*

What’s been known like a ball of tightly wound
string unraveling yet the gossamer threads
like a spider web or silk worm’s cocoon
holding us together,
tying this, that, and the other worlds
together.
