Kōan Fragments of a Distorted World #11 (with a nod to Lawrence Ferlinghetti’s book "Pictures of the Gone World")

While looking at virus related news, I happened to see this headline: “New UK Red List for Birds: More Than One in Four Species in Serious Trouble: The UK Red List for birds now stands at 70 species and is almost double the length of that of the first UK review in 1996.”

What occurred to me is: How anthropocentric the response to the virus variants has been and currently is.

Why are there no mandates for protecting bird populations?

Why are there no mandates for stopping the polluting of rivers, oceans and all manner of waterways?

Why are there no mandates for stopping the pesticiding of bees and global food supplies?

Why are there no mandates for stopping sexual abuse of minors and little children?

Why are there no mandates to stop the extractive industries abuse of Original Peoples lands and factory pollution in so-called minority neighborhoods?

Are we supposed to believe that suddenly various world governments care so much about the people’s health that they are working 24-7 to improve it?

Why have there been virtually no major reports of terrorist incidents since the virus began?

Why has the US already invested billions of dollars funding Big Pharma so as to make the vaccines available for so-called free...when many other life-saving issues are still under- or un-funded?

In my opinion from general information, the vaccines are helping some people, especially with preventing severe illness and death, yet the vaccines are not foolproof for preventing the virus; and the facts show that the vaccines are hurting some people mildly, some severely, and in some cases related to deaths. Sadly, no surprise, as in the initial phase it was said there would be a 90% or whatever success rate, which in the face of the initial panic sounded pretty darn good (to some people).

Yet the big question is: Why the mandates?

Why, as in Austria and Greece, and potentially Australia, are people being fined for not getting the vaccine?

Why are people in financially poorer countries such as Africa having a hard time being able to get vaccinated?

Why have vaccines been touted and promoted as THE only solution? … when there is evidence to prove otherwise. Only in his recent announcement did President Biden mention monoclonal antibody treatments.

I'll answer all of the above with a few lines from Bob Dylan’s “Ballad of a Thin Man” . . . in effect, a kōan answering a kōan:

Because something is happening here
But ya' don't know what it is
Do you, Mister Jones?
