That's My Name!
Battered, scattered
Trapped and bomb-shattered
Littered in camps
like the scum of the earth.
Every one talks about us
And some who speak on our behalf,
But no one cares to hear what we say...
I stand my ground. Shout, that's my name:
Hi, I'm a Tamil civilian.
Blistered wounds
limbs amputated
Dreamless nights
And all the stars have fallen.
Every one claims my rights to be restored
No one will see the inner-scars.
Hear every one. Here, I can speak.
No one cares to hear what we say...
I squat on the ground. Shout, that's my name:
Hi, I'm a Tamil civilian.
I'm neither left nor right
And I'm a scrawny sight
My mother is gone
And I have no milky white.
I'm the future, but the skies have failed.
They say, I can starve to death
Because demo-cracy is coming with health and wealth.
No one cares to hear what we say...
I sit under the tent. Shout, that's my name:
Hi, I'm a Tamil civilian.
