Now in order to avoid any misunderstanding, allow us to file our disclaimer. First of all we have nothing against: riding bicycles (we love it); walking dogs (cool); riding bumper cars with kids (great!); shoveling dirt (but not in a white shirt); fly fishing (it's an art if you know what you're doing); eating ice cream (yum!; hanging curtains (hate doing it but a man's gotta do what a man's gotta do) or table tennis (skill and speed!); although we admit that playing golf and hanging out with Ellen Degeneres does present a problem for us :-).
Likewise, we have nothing against the more macho activities: karate; race car driving; saving endangered tigers; scuba diving; flying jet planes; riding horses; helping wild animals (it's an anesthetic gun in the photo); sport fishing; saving polar bears or playing concert piano.
But more importantly, there is an irony in this "profile in courage" when the personalities of these two world leaders are compared: one who's never been in battle but would send the world's mightiest military force (and young men and women) to attack a small country, killing civilians - compared with the other, a macho man who has had the courage and wisdom to fight for peace (and appears to be succeeding). But if all that escapes (or offends) the reader, may we suggest that there is the humor.
