Reader (and Axis of Logic columnist) weighs in on Joe Emersberger's article Western Media Shorthand on Venezuela Conveys and Conceals So Much:
Good analysis illustrating the double standards of Reuters that has always been anti-chavismo and supported the Venezuelan bourgeoisie.

Here is an anecdote of my direct experience with the staff of Reuters Caracas:

Back in 2006, the Reuters Caracas office was placed nicely in up-market Eastern Caracas near Plaza la Castellana. Right on this Plaza there is a pizza-beer-watering hole that used to be the favorite haunt of the Reuters team, called El León. With tables outside - and at that time reasonable prices - it was an ideal place to meet and talk about current events.

I had the “honor” of meeting some of the Reuters team at El León twice while having a beer there. These are young middle-class kids, products of private education and private universities, almost bilingual, and all computer-savvy. There was that air of superiority since they were working for an international media outlet even though Reuters was always implicitly involved in coup activity in its media coverage.

In effect, these kids were working to overthrow the [Venezuelan]  government whether they realized it or not.

The attitude they displayed towards their fellow mestizo Venezuelans - the vast majority of the population – was apartheid-inspired to put it mildly. Their main beef was that Chávez had eliminated many middle-class privileges but all were happy to receive their annual Cadivi preferential dollars of $5000 for traveling and $3000 for internet purchases.

That, in a nutshell, was all that interested them and they were typical examples of the “aliens” spawned by the 4th Republic that had condemned almost 80% of the Venezuelan population to live in poverty in the lost decade of the 1990s.

So – just don’t read Reuters about Venezuela. Omission, misinformation, and distortion is the name of their game and if there is any type of invasion these will be the first fleeing to the international airport on the coast - unless of course the road there is blocked by the mestizos these racists so despise.
