This is the second diplomatic setback in just one week for the US after its defeat in the Organization of American States (OAS).
Despite corporate media bias throughout the world invisibilizing the huge Chavista movement in the country, the US has failed to get backing from the majority of the countries on the UN Security Council.
The result of the vote culminating in another defeat for the US and a victory for Bolivarian diplomacy meant that neither China nor Russia had to use their veto in the case of a Resolution being passed by the UNSC authorizing intervention – military or otherwise - in Venezuela.
Maduro is now dealing with France, Germany, Spain and the UK who all threatened to recognize Guaidó as president if Maduro did not call elections within eight days. Maduro has asked them to withdraw this ultimatum. If they do recognize Guaidó, one can surmise that the diplomatic missions of these countries in Venezuela will be asked to leave.
Some massive marches have taken place in the midst of this crisis by Chavistas in the states of Yaracuy, Cojedes, Vargas and Zulia. We hear from other sources that many Chavistas are watching this drama unfold before taking to the streets.
